Formula 1 | Bottas is ‘tired’ of having to wait and answer on his future

Valtteri Bottas believes he has “does the job” last time in Mexico by proving to Sauber why he deserves to keep his seat in 2025, with the Finn admitting he “can’t do more” with the current car to show its capabilities.

Asked during the media day at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix if he was tired of facing questions about his future – and if there were any further updates on the situation – Bottas said joked: “Yeah, a little tired about it! I’m sure you might be too!”

“It’s usual – when there’s no confirmation, there are questions, and unfortunately the same situation this weekend. I’m still waiting, the ball is in their court basically.”

“I feel like I’ve done the job in Mexico and right now I really can’t do more with this car and show more of what I can do than what I’m doing right now, so everything What I can do is wait.”

Sauber made headlines with personnel changes announced as part of a continuing restructuring, with the arrival of former Ferrari racing strategy director Inaki Rueda as well as Giampaolo Dall’Ara as new the team’s director of racing engineering.

“These are two very interesting and strong additional people joining the team in different roles for next year,” comments Bottas.

“It just shows the commitment and restructuring of the team is still happening all the time. Some changes are more visible, some less, but I think it shows that things are really happening for the future.”

“Of course I’m still waiting for news from the team, I’ve always shown interest in being part of the Audi project. Now I’m still waiting, that’s where we are now.”

And when asked if he was confident of getting the answer he hopes for in the near future, the 35-year-old added: “The thing about this sport is you never know what’s going on in the background.”

“There is always a lot of politics involved; we are talking about a big company, a big business too. There are many reasons behind decisions such as driver composition. All I can do now, it’s trusting Mattia [Binotto] and to his words, and then we will see.”
