the essential
On October 26, 2025, a running race will take place in the royal city, and in particular its Garenne park.

“It was during a race in Casteljaloux that we were running with Nicolas Lacombe that we said to ourselves: we should also have a race in Nérac!” Aurore Fontanel, deputy mayor and great sportswoman, joined the city’s athletics club three years ago and her office recently, to develop the running section. Running and races, in fact, are becoming more and more attractive, especially when they are done in groups. It’s often more motivating.

See you in a year!

Along with running, the young Neracaise has another passion: her city. “I live in the village of Nazareth, above the Garenne. I run there three times a week. I love this setting. The colors change all the time. Those of this month of October are particularly beautiful.” The project of organizing a race in his city has always been on his mind.

And that’s it. With the ACJN (Athlétic Club des Jeunes Néracais) of President Brice Lagier, and supported by the town hall, she included the Foulées d’Henri IV on Wednesday October 30 in the calendar of the French Athletics Federation. The first edition will take place on Sunday October 26, 2025, in the morning.

5 and 10 km courses

It now remains for the club to work out the details. Two races should be scheduled. The first 5 km will take place entirely in the Garenne park, following the route which goes to the Nazareth mill. For the second 10 km, the team is in reflection. Rather than making the participants do the loop again, they would like to take them to frolic in the city center, in the middle of the magnificent Neracais heritage.

Aurore Fontanel is excited about this project. As of Wednesday evening, she made the event public, and very quickly the news spread like wildfire on social networks. “I’ve been thinking about it for a while, so I was very excited,” she smiles. “When I run a race, I look at what’s good and write it down in the back of my mind.” With Les Foulées d’Henri IV taking place in a year, this promises some good ideas for a very successful sporting morning.
