The Higher Council for Audiovisual Communication (CSCA) approved, during its plenary meeting of October 28, 2024, the project to supplement the specifications of the Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision – SNRT providing for the creation of four television channels thematic public dedicated to sports.
Submitted for approval to the High Authority of Audiovisual Communication by the Head of Government in accordance with the provisions of Article 49 of Law No. 77.03 relating to Audiovisual Communication, this project provides for the launch of new channels “Arryadia 1″, « Arriadia 2″« Arriadia 3″ et « Arriadia 4″which will be broadcast 24/7 by satellite or any other technical mode.
On this occasion, the CSCA welcomed the efforts made by national public broadcasting companies in promoting Moroccan citizens’ access to sports information and entertainment, notably through the broadcasting of various sports competitions. national and international.
Based on several principles of the mandate of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, the High Council also called for the strengthening of the national media offering dedicated to sports. This strengthening will, among other things, support the exceptional sporting momentum that the country is experiencing, including numerous important and unprecedented international and continental sporting events: 2030 Football World Cup, 2025 African Cup of Nations, 2025-2029 editions of the Cup. of the World of U17 women’s football, etc.
The CSCA also considered that these new channels, which are added to Arriyadia, are likely to allow the public audiovisual service to improve, quantitatively and qualitatively, its action in terms of media coverage and influence of Moroccan sport on the national, regional and local scale. The aim in this regard is to consolidate the role of public audiovisual media in promoting positive values and ideals of sport in the service of social cohesion, territorial inclusion, unity and national identity.
While taking note of the progress in terms of making the presence of women visible in the public sporting space, the High Council reiterated its call for greater media coverage of women’s sport and for fairer media representation of female expertise in this area. The unifying and socializing potential of sport is likely to promote the culture of parity and equality between men and women within Moroccan society.
