CAZAUX OLYMPIQUES: REACTION AFTER THE 7TH ROUND DRAW

Cazaux Olympique (Regional 3), the last “little Thumb” of still competing in this Coupe de , continues to write one of the most beautiful pages in its history. Qualified for the first time in the 6th round, the club has now reached the famous 7th round, venturing into unknown and enchanting territory for football fans. It was live, at the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, during the draw, that the President of Cazaux, Philippe GAYON discovered with emotion the identity of the next opponent. Between pride and excitement, he looks back on this unique experience and what this qualification represents for the club and its entire community.

What was your reaction to the draw obtained by your club, CazauxOlympics?

Philippe Gayon, President of CazauxOlympics:

“I was happy, I hoped I wouldn’t have to play against a team from the region. Whether it’s the two teams from Mérignac or the Girondins de , because these are teams that everyone knows here and it will be good to play against a different team than these. Playing against Roche Sur Yon VF, a Nationale 2 team is also very exciting, both for the players and for all the supporters because they will be able to face a team from 4 higher divisions. »

How are the supporters experiencing this incredible epic in the Coupe de France?

“The supporters are, of course, as motivated as the players…(laughs). For the reception of AS Taillanaise in the 6th round, they put balloons all around the field, they brought drums to encourage the team throughout the entire match. For our part, we had decided to hire a DJ and we intended to reproduce an atmosphere like in the 6th round for the match against VF. »

What does this 7th round represent for the club and the municipality of Cazaux?

“To me it shows all the current work that is being done. From the coaches, the players who redouble their efforts and motivation. This proves the evolution of the club CazauxOlympics, which is starting to be a very good club in the department and with the recognition that it did not necessarily have before. Since the 6th round, we see lots of Girondin magazines with the club in them and we hear a lot more about the club than before. Personally, I did not expect this journey to take on so much importance for the municipality and that makes me very happy. It’s so much work that perhaps I don’t yet appreciate the intensity of our performance. »
