The Marmande automobile club once again takes over the Carpète aerodrome, Sunday November 3, for the Marmande automobile slalom. “It will be a great spectacle over 2 kilometers. We have listened to the drivers and the circuit will be improved so that the events take place as comfortably and safely as possible. The traced track is wider and better adapted,” promises Jean-Paul Quioc, historic member of the Auto Club.

Qualifying event

In terms of welcoming drivers, the club is aiming for 70 competitors, both in prototypes and in single-seaters and sedans. The event is qualifying, since it is included in the calendar for the 2025 French Slalom Cup, which takes place over an entire year, from August to August.

“It’s one of the simplest disciplines in motorsport. Everyone can practice it at leisure and try it with their personal vehicle,” adds Jean-Paul Quioc.

Competitors will begin free and timed practice from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. The four rounds will then follow until around 5:30 p.m., before the trophies are presented. Several local drivers, present in previous years, should return to the race. The representative hopes that the emphasis on conviviality will be one of the drivers of their return. “We are also going to highlight sports vehicles from the 1960s to 1990s, thanks to the Calandres toninquaises enthusiasts,” continues the latter, while welcoming the involvement of the town hall which allows it to rent the Carpète track beyond the simple weekend, for the 60 volunteers to prepare the event. Who will succeed Laurent Lugardon, on his Dallara 303, and Ophélie Poitevin among the women? Response on November 3.

For the record, in 2022, nearly 1,000 people keen on racing cars came to admire the aces behind the wheel, while 2023 was disrupted by storm Domingo, which spoiled the race.

Entrance: 2 euros, free for children under 12. Information: 06 76 85 93 31. Facebook: Marmandais automobile club.
