Two Grand Tours (Giro and Tour de France), two Monuments (Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Lombardy) and the world championships among his twenty-five victories, Tadej Pogacar had a more than perfect 2024 season. To the point that some of them raise discussion.
In his latest survey produced by Odoxa for Winamax and RTL, the Slovenian was scrutinized through his image, his performances and the comparison with the Belgian Eddy Merckx.
A comparison with Merckx not overused
And the results are paradoxical since 59% of French people and 75% of Cycling fans have a good opinion of Tadej Pogacar. A spectacular runner (85%) and friendly (70%), the 26-year-old Slovenian combines human and sporting qualities according to cycling enthusiasts. But the domination of the three-time winner of the Tour de France (2020, 2021, 2024) and reigning world champion takes away interest in the races (60%) and 54% of cycling enthusiasts doubt its performance.
As for the comparison with the Cannibal, it is far from being absurd for 74% of cycling enthusiasts, even if we still have to wait a few years for it to be effective for most of them (45%).
