Football: French Ligue 1 offers itself a new trophy

Designed by the artist Mathias Kiss, the trophy, in golden nickel-plated brass, is 54 cm high and weighs a dozen kilos. Its shape, more vertical than the previous trophy, the “Hexagoal”, will require a certain effort from the players who lift it.

The shape of the trophy also features the “V for victory” because “I wanted it to reek of victory,” explained Mathias Kiss during a press conference at the headquarters of the LFP.

President Vincent Labrune, recently re-elected despite the turmoil of the reduction in rights, declared: “There is a lot of talk in the press about the glass being half empty. (…) But we are trying to move from an institutional brand to an emotional brand, for the LFP to be a separate player in the entertainment industry.

The trophy, like the “ à la française” communication campaign launched in September, is representative of this desire to “mix sport and culture”, “the surest way to expand our audience to young people”, estimated Vincent Labrune.
