The Théâtre du Jorat draws positive results from its 2024 season which took place from May 24 to September 22 in Mézières (VD). During this period, the “Grange sublime” attracted a total of 12,000 spectators for 15 shows, filling 70% of its seats. The increase is 13% compared to the previous year.
In total, the theater presented fifteen Swiss and European productions. Several have been particularly acclaimed, like “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” by Christian Hecq and his accomplice Valérie Lesort or “Inri”, a French-speaking creation by André Hahne and ADN Dialect, rejoices the sublime Grange team Tuesday in a press release.
“Our efforts to deploy a diverse artistic palette have borne fruit, with innovative initiatives such as readings by renowned actors, a writing workshop and balls which have won over an enthusiastic audience,” underlined Ariane Moret, general and artistic director of the Théâtre du Jorat, quoted in the press release.
Started in 2023, the restoration work will continue until 2025. A heated pavilion will host the refreshment bar in the garden. It is currently under construction, as is the annex which will serve as a stage backstage adapted to current standards and which will allow productions meeting contemporary requirements to be hosted.
The next season of this summer theater built entirely of wood will begin in June 2025. It will be followed by an official inauguration of the new spaces in the fall.
