Jacques Zoua, 33 years old, joined AS Trouville Deauville for this 2024-2025 season. Former professional player, spent in the Bundesliga, by Gazélec in Ligue 1 (2015-2016) but also winner of four Swiss championships with FC Basel (2009-2013), the Cameroonian will bring all his experience to the club. Flowery coast.

After his team’s defeat against in the Coupe de (0-3), Zoua spoke about his arrival in .

Jacques, how did you arrive at ASTD?

Through Julien Bègue, with whom I played (at Astra Giurgiu, in Romania, in 2018-2019). I then spoke to the president on the phone. My last club was in Libya, at Al-Ahli and it had been a little over a year since I last played. I wanted to get back into competition, I had offers, but I didn’t want to go abroad again. I wanted to stay in France, where I feel good, and the Trouville Deauville project suited me perfectly. I like the region and the mentality here.

Whether I’m in the Bundesliga or in Regional 1, for me it’s almost the same.

— Jacques Zoua

What are your goals this season?

I want to help the club grow. With the infrastructure there is, the organization, this club deserves a higher level. Individually, I want to find pleasure in playing and scoring goals! Whether I’m in the Bundesliga or in Regional 1, for me it’s almost the same. The club is making a lot of effort to integrate me and I want to give back.

Have you already played at the amateur level?

No way. I observe and am impressed by the effort my teammates make and the desire they put into each training and match, while they work alongside. I discovered this. Since I was 17, I have been a professional player. For me, it’s always just been football.

What is your best career memory?

To have won the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon (2017). It’s an unforgettable memory. When you start playing football, you inevitably dream of winning something with your country. Winning a CAN, for us, is like winning a World Cup!
