William Lacelle signed his first shutout in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) by stopping 19 pucks in a 4-0 win for the Rimouski Océanic against the Remparts on Saturday in Quebec.

Maxime Coursol, Dominic Pilote and Quinn Kennedy scored in the second period for the Océanic, who won a fourth consecutive game. Alexandre Blais completed the score in the last twenty.

Louis-Antoine Denault conceded four times out of 29 shots in front of the Remparts cage.

The Voltigeurs shut out the Huskies

Riley Mercer had the last word in a goalie duel, blocking all 35 shots aimed at him to help the Drummondville Voltigeurs defeat the Huskies 1-0 in Rouyn-Noranda.

At the other end of the ice, rookie Samuel Meloche kept his team in the game with a 29 save performance. Only Owen Ronson deceived his vigilance with his first goal in the junior circuit.

Six of the Huskies’ eight games have ended with a one-goal deficit since the start of the campaign. The Abitibi-Témiscamingue club has a 3-2-3 record since the start of the campaign.

Offensive festival in Val-d’Or

Cole Burbidge collected five points, scoring a hat trick, and the Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Foreurs 8-4 in Val-d’Or.

It was Burbidge’s second five-point game in the QMJHL. Thomas Lavoie also shone in this victory with four assists.

Lucas Romeo, Noah Reinhart, Callum Aucoin, Jacob Newcombe and Luke Patterson also lit the red light for the Maritime club. Jakub Milota made 27 saves.

Nathan Drapeau, Alix Durocher, Samuel Fiala and Donovan Arsenault responded for the Foreurs. Tested 33 times, Émile Beaunoyer suffered defeat in his five games this season.

Wildcats too strong

Gabe Smith and Alex Mercier scored doubles, Vincent Collard had a goal and three assists, and the Wildcats manhandled the Sherbrooke Phoenix 9-3 in Moncton.

Julius Sumpf, Preston Lounsbury, Simon Mullen and Étienne Morin also scored in this third straight victory for the Wildcats. Jacob Steinman faced 38 shots.

After winning his first three starts in the QMJHL, Linards Feldbergs gave up three times on nine shots and was replaced by Jacob Brochu, who allowed six goals on 16 shots.

Chad Bellemare, Étienne Giroux and Mavrick Lachance were the visitors’ scorers.

Bitter defeat for the Tigers

William Yared scored the decisive goal in the 11th round of the shootout and the Sea Dogs defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 6-5, in Saint-Jean.

The Tigres forced overtime by scoring three times in the last six minutes of play in the third, including two while their goaltender was on the bench for an extra skater. Despite everything, they suffered a fifth loss in a row

Maël Lavigne, twice, Justin Gendron, Justin Larose and Olivier Houde moved the ropes in defeat. Jakob Hanlan blocked 17 pucks.

Eriks Mateiko, Tyler Peddle, Ben Cross, Matthew MacLean and Elliot Dubé found the back of the net for the local favorites. Charles-Édward Gravel made 30 saves.
