For her last outing of the season in Barcelona, Joan Mir fell, once again. While he abandoned more races than he finished (an extremely rare occurrence, especially for a factory driver), the Spaniard wanted to prove his worth in the paddock, but was unable to bring his Honda RC213V back to the pits. We saw him in 11th position before collapsing, as is too often the case. His approach will have to change in 2025, for his team, but also for his physical integrity.
It’s a scenario we know all too well. Joan Mir did not see the finish of the Grand Prix, once again. “I attacked incredibly hard during the race after a good start,
I felt good and did everything I could to get closer to the group in the top ten. In the end, I pushed too hard and crashed, which is a real shame
because we see that there were good points to catch » he said at the end of this final day.
But why did he opt for this approach, when he is already in difficulty when he is much further down the rankings? “Everyone is working hard to come back and today I wanted to show that I am 100% determined to be fast and fight for everything I can » he added. Not sure that this kind of comment would be to the taste of his employers.
As for Yamaha, Tuesday will be extremely important. Joan Mir expects a lot. « We are now starting to look towards 2025, first with Tuesday's test while waiting for other versions before the end of the year. Our work does not stop, we continue to do everything we can. » he concluded.
