Christophe Préseau, a northern firefighter nurse, suffered a serious foot injury in 2021 during an intervention. For his long and painful rehabilitation, his physiotherapist advised him to practice stand-up paddleboarding. Today, he is embarking on a crazy project: going from Dunkirk to Marseille on his paddle.

1233 kilometers to travel, 214 locks, 45 km per day on average. A personal feat like a desire to return the favor to the doctors and nurses who saved his foot, as well as to his loved ones who surrounded him during this ordeal. Today, he has one objective above all: to raise funds for the Œuvre des Pupilles des Sapeurs-Pompiers which helps orphans of firefighters who died or were seriously injured during intervention.

On the eve of the departure, after a long sporting and logistical preparation, Christophe Préseau has a determined state of mind and does not want to disappoint. “People have been warned, the fire stations (1), some of which offer to bring the mayor of the town, the departmental union of firefighters, I am not afraid of disappointing but I really have to go to the “Only an injury, unfortunately, would force me to stop.”explains the nurse.

His son Théo is of course among his supporters. He is even proud of his father, of the path traveled so far and of the path that remains to be taken. “I thought it was a really crazy challenge, but at the same time I was super proud of him for what he was going to achieve. I knew there was a lot of organizing to do but I supported him 100% in his project”, explains Theo.

In total, with 28 courses of around forty kilometers each, Christophe Préseau must arrive in Marseille on Saturday June 8, 2024, without any day of rest.
