A few years ago, we could doubt the effects that a reconstruction would have on CH supporters. It must be admitted that not only is the Bell Center always full, there is great enthusiasm for the team despite a more difficult period.

Kent Hughes has achieved some small miracles, notably by acquiring players and sending them elsewhere with added value for the team.

This was the case for Sean Monahan. The Calgary Flames gave up a first round pick to CH so they could take the center player. Kent Hughes traded him to Winnipeg for another first round pick.

However, not all general managers have the same luxury as Kent Hughes. This is what Pierre Dorion, former general manager of the Senators, told Martin Lemay on BPM Sports.

He mentioned that not all teams have the luxury of being able to afford this type of move. He mentioned that in Ottawa, he did not have the budget to do it.

He has just launched an arrow at the owners who did not allow him to absorb big contracts while his team was at the start of reconstruction, something that Geoff Molson and his team agreed to do.

After all, it paid off for the CH on the ice. Not only was Monahan an excellent role model for the young players in the organization, but the Habs were able to monetize his value by fetching another first-round pick.

We often forget that there is money at stake on the part of the owners, but that is indeed the case. Not everyone is ready to take out their wallet when the team does not win the cup in the same year.
