FC Sion took another step towards promotion to the Super League. 2 days before the end of the Challenge League, the Sédunois beat Aarau 2-1 to temporarily take a 6-point lead over their runner-up Thun, who however have a game in hand.
In a first half with few chances, Aarau monopolized the ball without being dangerous. On the contrary, FC Sion created a few chances and it was Bouchlarhem who managed to beat the Aargau goalkeeper with an unstoppable header in the 34th minute.
But the joy of the Valais people was short-lived. Less than two minutes later and on Aarau’s first shot on target, Demhasaj equalized for his colors.
A red card that changes everything
