France 3 Champagne-Ardenne was able to meet Nathan Leverd in Marseille. The young Ardennes resident spent twelve days on Belem with the Olympic flame. He recounts his journey with a broad smile.

France 3 Champagne-Ardenne: what is your best memory of yesterday and the arrival of Belem in Marseille?

My best memory will remain the arrival: it was iconic! We looked and there were people. They were there to see the flame and the Belem of course, but it was us they were greeting. We felt thanked by the public. We were actors in the event, it was exceptional!

France 3 Champagne-Ardenne: what is your best memory of the crossing aboard the Belem?

I will particularly remember the Corinth Canal, in Greece. I had heard of it but had never gone through it. And also the Stromboli volcano, located on the island of the same name, north of Sicily (Aeolian Islands). It was totally unknown to me and I was able to see a volcanic eruption, it was crazy!

France 3 Champagne-Ardenne: has your view of the Olympic Games changed?

Yes, the fact of having experienced this adventure from the inside, the fact of having been an actor in this project, it changes my outlook. I feel more inhabited by the Olympic spirit. the Paris 2024 games will affect me more, now, that’s for sure!
