Even though they won the match, the meeting ended badly for the young footballers from AS Flourens-Drémil-Lafage.

Saturday, when they had just won their match against Toulouse Montaudran FC on the lawn of the Struxiano 2 stadium in Toulouse (by a score of 3 to 4), the young footballers (U17) of the Flourens-Drémil-Lafage club quickly disillusioned! In fact, their locker room having been forced during the meeting, everyone noticed the thefts of which they had been victims. “At the end of the match, instead of celebrating their victory, they cried in disgust. They had pairs of sneakers, telephones, bank cards stolen… This represents more than 6,000 euros in damage,” sighs the president of AS Flourens-Drémil-Lafage, Jeoffrey Racionero.

A complaint filed the next day

In fact, nine families of players filed complaints as of Sunday morning. “I thought the Montaudran club was going to call me, but the president just sent me an SMS,” explains Jeoffrey Racionero. Also, Olivier Reuland, president of the Toulouse club, specifies: “I sent an SMS to the president to ask him for a copy of the complaint filings, in order to have factual elements on which we can rely to consider with the town hall of Toulouse, owner of the stadium, better security of the locker rooms. As the host club, this situation makes us uncomfortable, although it is not our responsibility.”

After the post-match distress, the time has come for indignation, according to Jeoffrey Racionero: “It makes me angry because there are families who don’t have a lot of means. A mother told me that she had sacrificed herself for several months to give her son a new phone! A kid was crying on the field because the pair of sneakers that were stolen from him were a Christmas present from his grandmother, who has since passed away.”

Also, Jeoffrey Racionero adds: “I had already announced it: this is my last year as president of the club. I’ve had enough of this atmosphere that weighs on football and everything that revolves around it. It’s not healthy and it’s not easy.”

AS Flourens Drémil-Lafage has launched an online fundraiser “Help for U17 victims of locker room theft”:
