Since the Courtois affair, the appointment of the captain has been closely followed among the Red Devils. And it is not the recent outings of Kevin De Bruyne which will silence the debates on the holder of the armband.
Facing Italy and France, Domenico Tedesco will have to innovate: its two usual captains are not there. Thibaut Courtois would undoubtedly have been delighted to take over, but it does not seem necessary to revisit his case.
“I have an idea of who the captain will be, but first I want to talk about it with the players,” Tedesco said at a press conference. “Let’s imagine that the person I have in mind doesn’t want to be captain. I’ve already told him. But I’m waiting a little longer before revealing it.”

The name of Koen Casteels comes up insistently. At 32, the goalkeeper has extensive experience and has already been captain at Wolfsburg. But Youri Tielemans could also be a strong candidate for the position.
