Canadian soldiers who participated in a military skills competition were not only recognized for their skills, but also for their way of wearing the Longueuil Cup.

“The Canadian team brought its own sense of style to the Sandhurst military skills competition at West Point by deciding to sport Longueuil cuts,” noted the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

Of all lengths, curly or straight, the soldiers’ hair was particularly noticed by their American counterparts, who are far from having adopted this tactic.

“The Canadians adopted the Longueuil Cup. We prefer beautiful combed hair, a clean cut and that’s our secret,” joked cadet Thomas Ward in a video shared on YouTube.

The Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, and the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean, Quebec, participated in the competition between 14 countries on April 26 and 27.

The Canadian Armed Forces had decided to relax their dress code in 2022 to attract more people, since allowing colored hair, false nails, tattoos and has ended the obligation of shaved hair for men.
