The President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, on Friday praised Uganda for the great positive strides made by the country in the development of football.

KAMPALA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) — International Football Federation (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino on Friday praised Uganda for the great positive strides made by the country in the development of football.

The encouragement came during the 100th Ordinary General Assembly of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), marked by FUFA’s 100th anniversary celebrations at the Maya Nature Resort, a resort in the west of the capital , Kampala.

“In Uganda, the future of football is bright thanks to the hard work, foresight and determination of the leaders of the football federation led by Moses Magogo. I congratulate you on your 100 years of existence and wish you success beautiful celebrations thinking of all the important milestones,” added Mr. Infantino.

The FIFA President also thanked FUFA for its good collaboration with FIFA. “Education is important for any nation, including Uganda, to continue to develop, and FIFA, through Football for Schools, will continue to help teach important values ​​to children through this project,” he assured.

John Auka Gecheo, Director General of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), also praised the Uganda Football Federation for the good work it has done in during the year. “Uganda continues to be the best footballing nation in the CECAFA zone due to its good work. We congratulate Uganda on 100 years of FUFA,” he said.

Mr. Magogo, the President of FUFA, thanked all the delegates, stakeholders and guests for coming to celebrate 100 years of his federation. “We do not take your presence for granted and we assure you that we will continue to plan and work hard to ensure that football in Uganda continues to improve to reach higher levels,” he added.
