Jack Campbell calls on NHL assistance program

Jack Campbell’s senior year was difficult on a personal level.

He did not meet expectations in the NHL despite his huge contract which allowed him to earn $5 million per season, and the Oilers ultimately decided to send him to the American League despite his imposing salary.

The goaltender recovered well with the Bakersfield Condors, but the Oilers terminated his contract this summer.

Campbell has therefore agreed to the terms of a new agreement with the Detroit Red Wings, but he will have to wait before being able to play in the red uniform of the Wings.

For what ? Because the main person involved is joining the NHL assistance program.

He will be absent for an indefinite period:

There’s no rush.

Jack Campbell needs to take some time for himself because if things aren’t going well in his life, he won’t be able to perform on the ice.

Feel good, play good. Non ?

That said, the NHL’s aid program has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Today’s society understands that mental health is important more than anything and to see that players are starting to participate in the league’s assistance program is reassuring in a way.

At least it proves that things have changed because that wasn’t necessarily the case before.
