Imps: big names in the Swerts selection

After the selection of national coach Domenico Tedesco, that of Gill Swerts for the Diablotins was also announced. Some big names will appear with the U21s.

Tedesco made several important decisions at the Red Devils. Arthur Vermeeren and Aster Vranckx, among others, therefore move down to the U21s. Swert will have an important duel with the young Devils in the qualifying group for the European Championship.

A strong selection

With Hugo Siquet, Mandela Keita, Arthur Vermeeren and Aster Vranckx, Swerts has a large number of Red Devils. Furthermore, players such as Mario Stroeykens (Anderlecht), Mika Godts (Ajax) and Samuel Mbangula (Juventus) are also close to being selected with the Red Devils.

National coach Tedesco also named Matteo Dams (PSV) and Joaquin Seys (Club Brugge) as future Red Devils, but, surprisingly, the duo are still not in the under-21 squad. The selection also includes some JPL players.

Shock against Scotland

Standard, Antwerp, OHL, Club Brugge, Anderlecht, Westerlo, Union, Cercle and Charleroi are all bringing in young talent. Missing are Kos Karetsas, Lucas Stassin, Mike Penders and Jorthy Mokio.

The match against Scotland is particularly important. Belgium and Scotland are behind group leader Spain with 16 points. The winner of the clash between these two teams could guarantee them a ticket for the play-offs.
