It was on Wednesday that the British took the lead by winning both sets to increase the score from 4-4 to 6-4. Before that, the two teams had shared the victories.
The seventh victory, which allowed them to prematurely win the series in the best of 13 rounds, was narrowly won by the British union who never lost the lead taken at the start. Britannia crossed the finish line 17 seconds ahead.

The British now have a week to prepare, since the duel against the New Zealanders begins next Saturday. Seven victories will also be necessary to win the oldest sporting trophy in the world.
