Biarritz (Pro D2): an AG without surprises

This Monday morning, the Extraordinary General Assembly of Biarritz Olympique (Pro D2), convened by the new owners, was held in the aisles of the Aguiléra stadium, home of the BO. Faced with just half of the club’s 80 shareholders, the trio of buyers composed of Shaun Hegarty, Flip Van der Merwe and Marc Baget presented their project for the Basque club and, in particular, the financial aspect which will be defended before the A2R ( the rugby regulatory authority) Tuesday early afternoon.

During this AGM, eight resolutions were voted unanimously. And in particular the appointment of Arnaud Dubois to the board of BOPB as already mentioned on our site. And according to our information, even if Flip Van der Merwe has been confirmed as chairman of the management board, the appointment of Arnaud Dubois to this position remains on the table for the near future. Shaun Hegarty is already actively working as chairman of the supervisory board.

But the future of Biarritz Olympique will therefore largely be decided on Tuesday when it passes the A2R, in particular on the financial guarantees provided by the future buyers. On this subject, radio silence was declared until Tuesday when the identity of the “national and international investors” mentioned by Shaun Hegarty during the transfer of the club could finally be revealed.
