CFL: Cole Spieker extends with the Montreal Alouettes until 2026

With only three games remaining on the CFL regular season schedule, the Montreal Alouettes announced Tuesday that the team has extended the contract of American receiver Cole Spieker until 2026.

Spieker has been in uniform as a starter for all games for the team this season. The 27-year-old receiver caught 49 passes for 710 yards and seven majors.

The former University of Wisconsin-La Crosse player entered the nest during the 2022 campaign. In his career, he played 28 games with the Alouettes.

The Brainerd, Minnesota native had his say during the final Gray Cup game last November. He caught three balls for 62 yards and a touchdown. His reception on a third down and five yards to go set the table for Tyson Philpot’s winning touchdown in the final moments of the game.

“Cole always shows up on the field when we call his name,” says Danny Maciocia, general manager of the Montreal Alouettes. He is capable of playing both as an inside receiver and on the wide side. His versatility brings a lot to our training. We know that when he touches the ball, that it will stay in his hands and our quarterbacks have a lot of confidence in him. »

Montreal is currently on leave and preparing for its next match against the Ottawa Rouge et Noir on October 14.
