The Steven Stamkos case is attracting attention in Tampa Bay… and in the NHL in general. After all, even if everyone knows the player wants to return to the Lightning, there is a world where that doesn’t happen.

And there, that would cause a lot of talk. After all, he would be in demand.

Obviously, seeing Stamkos in another uniform would be special. However, if Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St-Louis finished their careers in other colors… anything is possible.

The subject is hot right now due to the fact that the Lightning are eliminated. But in reality, what it will take is a good wave of discussions between Julien BriseBois and the captain’s agent.

Stamkos, who wants to stay, says he is “excited” about the upcoming discussions.

From what we understand, it will come to this: will the Lightning manage to find an amount that will not destroy the (fragile) salary balance of the organization… without insulting it with an offer? too low?

Note that DG BriseBois, for what it’s worth, said he was “very confident” of being able to find common ground with his captain, who has been excellent for several weeks.

The Quebec GM also claims to have had discussions with Stamkos and his agent since the elimination of the Lightning. But deep down, we feel that he doesn’t want to “fall in love” with his player.

Note that another issue is attracting attention in Tampa Bay: Jon Cooper.

However, it should be noted that even if we thought he only had one year left on his contract, it seems that in fact he has two years left. BriseBois said he had time left on his contract… and according to David Pagnotta, he still has two years left on his contract.

In his podcast today, broadcast before knowing this, Elliotte Friedman said that teams might wait before hiring a coach, all of a sudden until Mike Sullivan or Jon Cooper was available.

Take Cooper’s name off, then.
