The Toronto Maple Leafs will have some big decisions to make between now and the end of their training camp.

The Queen City club gave professional trials to attackers Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz. Both men are doing well, which creates a bit of a headache for general manager Brad Treliving.

Depending on the platform PuckPediathe Leafs are over the spending limit by a little over $1 million.

TSN journalist Darren Dreger suggests that the Toronto team could trade forward David Kampf to resolve the problem of their excessive payroll.

In 2024-2025, the 29-year-old center player must play the second year of a four-year contract which allows him to get his hands on $2.4 million annually.

Kampf played the last three seasons with the Maple Leafs, having previously worn the colors of the Chicago Blackhawks. Last year, he hit the target eight times and provided 11 assists for 19 points in 78 games.

Still according to Dreger, Toronto may have to give up a draft pick or a prospect to get rid of the Czech.
