Marrakech – A preparatory meeting was held on Saturday in Marrakech to discuss the modalities of organizing the international meeting on sustainable hunting, which will be held in the Ochre City next year under the theme “The importance of hunting in preserving the ecosystem: Between the challenges of sustainability and the effects of climate change.”

The meeting aimed to establish a roadmap to bring together all the necessary conditions for the success of this forum, which will see the participation of many countries, as well as to examine certain issues related to negative impacts on wild fauna and flora.

During this meeting, the speakers stressed the need to create a collective awareness to preserve wildlife and the environment and to combine the efforts of all stakeholders in this area in order to achieve this objective, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitating the hunting sector to support the ongoing preparations for the organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.

They indicated that hunting is a productive economic activity, hence the need for collective mobilization for its development in order to achieve an effective and sustainable balance between hunting as a seasonal sport and the requirements of environmental preservation.

The organization of the international meeting on sustainable hunting is an opportunity to highlight the natural, tourist and cultural assets of Morocco, which will contribute to attracting more tourists and local and foreign investments in the field of ecological and solidarity tourism, they noted.

The meeting, which brought together experts and people interested in the tourism and environment sectors, aims to discuss preparations for organizing this international forum, which comes at a time when the environment is facing various constraints, including climate change and its impact on flora and fauna, said Hassan Mhanna, coordinator of the preparatory committee for organizing the international meeting on sustainable hunting.

In a statement to MAP, he stressed the need for all stakeholders and sectors concerned with the environment, tourism and tourist hunting companies and associations to get involved in the successful organisation of this international meeting.
