A torn suit, tears and abandonment across Flanders, it was with these painful images that Wout van Aert left us almost a month ago. The medical assessment was serious and showed a fracture of the clavicle, the sternum as well as several broken ribs and a contusion to the lung.

A season far from over

However, the three-time cyclo-cross world champion is already back with a video that his team (Visma-Lease a bike) published on social networks this Tuesday, April 23.

If the latter had to give up the Tour of Flanders as well as -, we see in this video the Belgian rider smiling, confident and “happy to be able to train outside”.

If the date of his return to racing is not yet known, his other stated objective this season is to seek Olympic medals at the Paris Olympics, both in the time trial and in the road race. A week ago, his team logically announced its withdrawal from the Giro, its other big spring meeting.
