A team of six students Social science from the Cégep de Matane had the honor of winning the FIDELE prize during the 2024 edition of the Human Sciences Games organized on April 13 and 14 by the Cégep de Sainte-Foy. A great recognition for the CEGEP program, which was only in its first participation!

“The Matane team stood out for its commitment and spirit of initiative. She also left an impression with her humor, her energy and her originality, all qualities which allowed us to win this prize, which we did not expect,” says Sophie Turbide, history teacher at Cégep de Matane and accompanist during of the event with his colleague Gabriel Plante, who teaches geography.

Valued at $300, the FIDELE prize rewards the team that has stood out for its spirit of Fraternity, which has demonstrated Innovation, Dynamism as well as Enthusiasm and whose participation is Legitimate since it is faithful to the ‘Spirit of these games. This year, they attracted 14 teams from different CEGEPs.

Various tests

The Matane group, arriving at 7e place in the general ranking, will have been invited to use his knowledge in all areas of the human sciences during five tests: a public speaking competition, a multidisciplinary skills test, an escape game, a management challenge resources and a general knowledge questionnaire.

“The team was very proud to see the many achievements of their training. For some, this participation also confirmed their choice of study at university. We also took great pleasure in representing a regional CEGEP, by wearing an outfit in the colors of Matane specially designed at the Fablab before our departure,” added the teacher, who congratulated the students for their sense of cohesion. , their openness to others and their sportsmanship.

The team was made up of Sabrina Barriault, Thomas Emond, Frédérique Lord, Éloi St-Louis Malenfant, Alice Ross-Williams and Olivier Sirois.
