Marc Denis: My final top-10 goalkeepers

The regular season is a thing of the past. Who will win the Vezina? Who will lift the Stanley Cup? While waiting for the answers, here is our latest list of winners for 2023-2024.

1 – Connor Hellebuyck | WPG | 37-19-4 | 2.39 | .921

Winner of the William M. Jennings Trophy for best defensive average, Hellebuyck, under long-term contract in Winnipeg, is also the big favorite to win the Vezina Trophy awarded by the general managers of the NHL.

2 – Thatcher Demko | VAN | 35-14-2 | 2.45 | .918

Back healthy in time for the end of the season, he established himself as a leading figure for the Canucks who are aiming for a return to the NHL’s elite.

3 – Sergei Bobrovsky | FLO | 36-17-4 | 2.37 | .915

Last spring should have been a clear indication that “Bob” was back in great shape. With the unexpected support of Anthony Stolarz this season, he is rested for another long playoff run.

4 – Charlie Lindgren | WAS 25-16-7 | 2.67 | .911

It doesn’t show traditional stats for top-ranked goalies, but Lindgren is the main reason the Capitals are in the playoffs.

5 – Jeremy Swayman |BOS | 25-10-8 | 2.53 | .916
6 – Linus Ullmark | BOS | 22-10-7 | 2.57 | .915

Obstructing the accepted way of doing things in such a ranking, but how do you separate the best duo in the NHL? The alternation in season clearly works in Boston, it remains to find the optimal distribution in the playoffs.

7 – Igor Shesterkin | NYR | 36-17-2 | 2.58 | .913

A two-part season for the Rangers’ trusted man. A reset after the All-Star break, a spectacular home record and a more than up to the task second in Jonathan Quick, that’s Shesterkin’s recipe for success.

8 – Juuse Saros | SIN | 35-24-5 | 2.86 | .906

With such a high frequency of starts, he will have been unable to maintain an impressive efficiency rate, but his performance speaks for itself. You don’t have to look too far to explain the turnaround in the country town.

9 – Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen | BUF | 27-22-4 | 2.57 | .910

The Sabers haven’t found enough answers to their ton of questions this season. They can console themselves however, with “UPL” and Devon Levi, the future in net is assured for a long time.

10 – Jordan Binnington | STL | 28-21-5 | 2.84 | .913

If the Blues aren’t spring dancing, it’s not Binnington’s fault. More in control of his emotions, he could even be seriously considered by Canada for the next international competitions, including the next Olympic Games. Doug Armstrong knows him very well.
