Cycling. UCI ranking – Demi Vollering dethroned… Bardet becomes king of France again!
Descriptive text here

The UCI rankings were updated this Tuesday, and for the first time since May 30, 2023, Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx-Protime) no longer appears in first place in the women’s individual ranking! Following her incredible hat-trick achieved last season on the Ardennes, the Dutchwoman had a lot of points to defend last week, and despite two good results obtained on the Walloon Arrow (2nd) and Liège-Bastogne-Liège (3rd), she could not stay on the throne. The new boss of women’s cycling is called Lotte Kopecky !

No change at the top of the men’s rankings

Teammate of Demi Volleringwhich she is ahead of by 105 units, the world champion dominates the UCI ranking for the first time in her career, and it is a just reward as she has accumulated prestigious successes over the past two years, including the Tour of Flanders (x2), - Women with ZwiftTHE Strade Bianche (x2), theUAE TourL’Omloop Het Nieuwsblad or even a stage of Tour de Women with Zwift. Always 100% Team SD Worx-Protimethe podium is completed by another Dutchwoman, Lorena Wiebes. First Frenchwoman, Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) is in twelfth place.

Among men, no change in world number one, however, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) still dominating the individual rankings, with nearly 600 points ahead of Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike). Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) remains in third place, but the threat is getting closer for the Belgian, who is closely followed by Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek). Returned to sixth place in the world, Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) is not very far from the podium either.

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team continues its superb 2024 financial year

On the French side, the main information is that Romain Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) wears the crown of first Tricolore, and this for the first time since… July 15, 2018! Thanks to his good Tour of the Alps (5th in the general classification, five top 10s in five days) and especially his second place on Liège-Bastogne-LiègeAuvergnat has gone ahead Thibaut Pinot (retirement), Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ), William Martin (Cofidis) and Lenny Martinez (Groupama-FDJ). Having gained more than thirty places in seven days, he appears twenty-sixth in the UCI rankings this week.

In the team rankings, overlooked by UAE Team Emiratesthings are still going well for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Teamwhich is at the foot of a podium on which also appear the training Alpecin-Deceuninck And Lidl-Trek, second and third respectively. A third of the way through the season, the team Vincent Lavenu ahead, excuse me a little, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike and the Soudal Quick-Step. If Groupama-FDJseventh, and Arkéa-B&B Hotelseleventh, are also doing well, times are much harder for Cofidis (19th and penultimate WorldTeam), and TotalEnergies (23rd).
