The Paris Saint-Germain footballer suffered severe head trauma, after an accident in 2023 in Spain, during the Rocio pilgrimage.
The Spanish goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain Sergio Rico, victim of a serious horse riding accident in May 2023, will carry out medical examinations this Tuesday, April 23 with a view to a possible resumption with the club, the club announced.
“Sergio Rico will today carry out compulsory medical examinations prior to returning to the club,” PSG said in a press release.

Sergio Rico was admitted to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville on May 28, 2023 for head trauma following an accident with a horse during the Rocio pilgrimage, in southern Spain. After several days in a coma, the goalkeeper left the intensive care unit of the establishment on July 5.

In September, the Spanish international expressed his desire to return “before the end of the season”, and had since gone to the Parc des Princes to attend some PSG matches. In his absence, coach Luis Enrique used, as understudies to Gianluigi Donnarumma, the experienced Keylor Navas and the young Arnau Tenas. Aged 30, Rico is under contract with the capital club until the end of June.
