The reigning road world champion Lotte Kopecky will not be at the start of the Tour de , on August 12 (until August 18), in Rotterdam, in order to devote herself fully to the 2024 Olympics (July 26-August 11), announced this Tuesday its SD Worx team.

Kopecky, recent winner at the Strade Bianche and -, will aim for gold in the omnium at the Games, a track event which will conclude the Olympic program on August 11. “Combining the two events would involve too much mental load, explained Danny Stam, the sports manager of SD Worx. Kopecky took 2nd place overall in the 2023 Tour, behind her teammate Demi Vollering (who will leave SD Worx at the end of this season). The Belgian had pocketed, along the way, a stage victory, the green jersey and worn the yellow jersey for six days. This summer, Kopecky will also compete in the Tour of England (June 6-9) and the Giro (July 7-14).
