It’s done: Ivan Perisic has found a new club (UPDATE)

The Croatian is currently a free agent. PSV Eindhoven have set their sights on experienced winger Ivan Perisic to strengthen their squad.

Perisic, who is currently a free agent after finishing his contract with Hajduk Split, is attracting interest from the Dutch club, who have already started negotiations to sign him.

Free player without any contract

The veteran, who has a long career in Europe’s elite, has become a priority for PSV, who are looking to take advantage of his availability on the market.

At 35, Perisic is a player who still has a lot to offer. His experience at clubs like Tottenham, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich makes him a player sought after by many clubs.

Although he has also been linked with Italian club Monza in recent weeks, negotiations with the transalpine club have not come to fruition, leaving PSV with the opportunity to secure his services.

Qualities and experience

PSV hopes that the project it is building in Eindhoven will convince Perisic to join it, bringing his qualities and experience.

If the deal goes through, the Croatian would represent a major reinforcement for the Dutch club, which is looking to consolidate its position in Europe. It remains to be seen whether the negotiations will be successful, but PSV’s interest is clear.

UPDATE 09/18 at 3:45 p.m.

PSV have made Perisic’s arrival official. The Dutch club announced the news on their official website: “PSV have signed Ivan Perišić. The 35-year-old winger, who has more than 700 games in professional football, has signed a contract until the summer of 2025. The Croatian international joins the main squad immediately.”

The player who has played for Roeselare and Club Brugge will be tasked with replacing Hirving Lozano as best he can. The latter, currently injured, will join San Diego FC, a new MLS franchise, next winter.
