A Rwandan Paralympic athlete has been missing since August 20 and an investigation has been opened into her “worrying disappearance,” the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday.

According to a police source, on August 20 at around 7 p.m., this Olympic sitting volleyball athlete left the Courbevoie camp (Hauts-de-Seine) where her delegation was staying to go to a restaurant. She never returned.

Rwandan Ambassador visited the site

His disappearance was reported on Tuesday around 1 p.m. by the of the Rwandan Olympic Committee, the source continued.
The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office, which has jurisdiction due to the accommodation of the Paralympic delegation in Courbevoie, confirmed on Wednesday morning “the referral to the BRDP (the Brigade for the Suppression of Crimes against Persons, editor’s note) as part of an investigation into a worrying disappearance”.

This investigation was opened after a report to the Saint-Ouen police station, the source added. The Rwandan ambassador was informed of these facts and went to the site, the police source added.
