The Spaniard won the sprint in San Marino ahead of his runner-up in the drivers’ standings.
MotoGP world championship leader Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) won the sprint race of the San Marino Grand Prix on Saturday, the 13th round of the season, ahead of reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who finished second.
On the Italian circuit of Misano, and in scorching heat, “Martinator” made a cannonball start from 4th place, taking the race from the first corner. At one time under threat from Bagnaia, who started from pole position, the Spaniard finally won by 1.5 seconds over his runner-up in the championship.

Italian Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-Pramac) completed the top 3 in this race of only 13 laps (compared to 27 for the GP on Sunday), which awards more points in the championship.
Overall, Martin consolidated his lead and is 26 points ahead of Bagnaia. Six-time world champion Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), third in the championship, finished 6th after starting 9th on the grid.
On the shores of the Adriatic, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) finished 9th and recovered a point in the championship. The other Frenchman entered in MotoGP, Johann Zarco, failed in 14th place and therefore out of the points on his Honda-LCR.
