Good news for Greenwood and OM!

Mason Greenwood has decided to give up on his dream of representing England, after the English FA (FA) made it clear he would no longer be considered for selection. The striker, who celebrated his first and only selection with the Three Lions in 2020, has now chosen to turn to Jamaica, where he will be able to represent his father's nation.

The decision follows a tumultuous period in Greenwood's career, marked by serious accusations of attempted rape and assault following which he was suspended by Manchester United. Although the charges were dropped, they nonetheless led to his departure from the club, and he later joined Marseille last summer. After a loan in Spain with GetafeGreenwood relaunched his career in , where he performed very well, particularly this season in Ligue 1, where he is currently the top scorer with 12 goals.

Despite his good performances in the Spanish and French championships, England clearly announced that they would not recall him due to the negative media repercussions. According to the Daily Starthe English leaders considered that a return of Greenwood risked dividing and causing distraction within the team.

Greenwood will return to the international stage with Jamaica in June!

After this decision by the FA, Greenwood took the necessary steps to be able to play with Jamaica, managed by Steve McClarenformer assistant coach of Manchester United. His father being Jamaican, he is eligible to represent that nation. According to the Mirror, although Marseille failed to agree to release Greenwood for next month's friendlies, he is expected to be included in McClaren's squad for the first time in June.
