Ligue 1: Paulo Fonseca (ex-LOSC) approached by Olympique Lyonnais

A return to Ligue 1 one year after leaving LOSC? This is what Olympique Lyonnais would offer to Paulo Fonseca, recently sacked from AC Milan.

A few bad results and woe… The upheavals come quickly, too quickly on the side of Olympique Lyonnais where Pierre Sage is already contested. OL's series of less convincing results, which began in 2025, was marked last week by an elimination in the round of 16 of the Coupe de on the lawn of Bourgoin-Jallieu (N3) and a draw against (0-0) in Ligue 1 during a match in which a reaction was expected. This did not happen and the consequences could be multiple. The position of the Rhone technician would be particularly weakened.

Ready to begin major upheavals within his organization chart, John Textor, owner of OL, has already made his choice to succeed Pierre Sage. This is, according to Italian information confirmed by The Teamof Paulo Fonseca, sacked a few weeks ago by AC Milan. The American businessman would have first liked to enlist him near Botafogo, in Brazil. A project quickly rejected by the Portuguese technician. The latter was much less categorical, not allowing the slightest response to filter through when Olympique Lyonnais was mentioned.

The French sports daily assures him: the challenge represented by Les Gones interests him. But Paulo Fonseca would like sporting and financial guarantees before breaking down. His return to Ligue 1, a few months after leaving LOSC, however, remains dependent on the results of OL and the ousting of Pierre Sage. There are still many conditions to be met.
