This is not the first time that this has happened to the police in Nîmes (Gard). Far from it… Grocery store inspections sometimes lead to an administrative closure, which can be temporary or permanent. Particularly in the department where the activity of grocers is scrutinized day and night. Once again, the police check hit the mark, on the night of Monday January 20, 2025.

Shortly before 4 a.m., the police were stopped by a business which was clearly not supposed to be not be open. And for good reason, it was the subject of an administrative closure. Hidden work was notably discovered in this grocery store.

The insults fly

Upon entering this place, the police officers received a particularly unpleasant welcome. Annoyed by their presence, a 29 year old customer decided to attack the police. Visibly drunk (0.50 mg/l), he was quick to insult the officers. Without the slightest surprise, this young man was arrested before being placed in police custody. He will have to answer for his actions in court.

The business in question will have to comply with the prefecture's decision by keeping its doors closed. His manager will also be sanctioned. The law (article L3352-6 of the public health code) provides up to 2 months imprisonment and of 3750€ fine in this scenario.
