The winter transfer window is always a crucial moment for football clubs, and Olympique de Marseille (OM) is no exception to the rule. While transfer rumors are rife, a particularly commented release concerns Elye Wahi. According to journalist Daniel Riolo, the OM striker could well leave the club in the days to come.
Via a tweet, Daniel Riolo expressed his opinion on the situation of the Franco-Burkinabe striker: “Wahi will most certainly leave OM this winter”. A statement which did not fail to provoke a reaction from fans and football observers, but which the journalist seems to fully accept. For him, the sale of Wahi would be a wise decision, both from a sporting and economic point of view.
Wahi will certainly leave OM this winter — Riolo
Arriving last summer from Lens, Elye Wahi was recruited for a sum estimated at €25m plus bonus. Daniel Riolowho does not mince his words, strongly defends OM's decision to put Elye Wahi on the market this winter. According to him, the Marseille club made the right decision by seeking to sell the player, stressing that this would allow them to recover a significant sum while avoiding a long-term financial loss.
He did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction with the criticism he received on social networks, notably on X (formerly Twitter), where his statements had been strongly attacked by some fans of the club. “That earned me a good period of insults from the idiots athe quipped. A reaction which is not surprising for the journalist, who is used to lively debates on the web.
In conclusion, Daniel Riolo does not seem to see a future for Elye Wahi to OM and considers that the sale of the striker is inevitable. It remains to be seen what the next chapter in the career of the French international hopeful will be, who could well take charge of another club by the end of the winter transfer window.
