a young Brazilian defender will sign for Manchester City for 35 million euros

According to Sky Sports, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Palmeiras for the transfer of young Brazilian central defender Vitor Reis for 35 million euros. He will join the club in January.

Manchester City will soon recruit a new defender. According to Sky Sports, the English club has reached an agreement with Palmeiras for the transfer of Vitor Reis (19 years old) for 35 million euros. No bonus should be included in the agreement and the final details should be settled this Tuesday morning, specifies the media. The player will join England in the coming days to sign in January.

A big check to double the competition

Several English teams had positioned themselves on the one presented as “the new Thiago Silva” in Brazil for his excellent reading of the game and some of his physical characteristics. The Citizens will therefore pay a big check to double the competition on a player who has only 22 matches with Palmeiras. Vitor Reis won't be the only promising defender to join the Sky Blues this winter.

Manchester City will also sign defender Abdukodir Khusanov (20 years old). The club has reached a total agreement with the Sang et Or around compensation of 50 million euros (bonus included) according to information from RMC Sport. The player, recruited for 100,000 euros in the summer of 2023, was not selected in the Lensois group for the trip to (1-2 victory), last Saturday in anticipation of his upcoming departure. The day before, he had not participated in the group training session.

These two expected signings come at a time when Pep Guardiola said he regretted not having recruited more during the summer transfer window. “Last summer the club thought about it and I said 'no, I don't want to do any recruitment',” the Spaniard said on Monday on the eve of Tuesday's Premier League match at Brentford. “I relied on those guys a lot and I thought I could do it again. But after the injuries – wow – maybe we should have done it.”

“We knew from the start of the season that we would have a lot of players over 30,” he added. “We knew that sooner or later we would have to do it. We had to change step by step. But five or six months ago they won the Premier League for the fourth time in a row, reached the FA Cup final and the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The number of injuries we had, I didn't expect it. In addition to the two defenders, Manchester City also hopes to bring in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.
