Stade Rennais is actively continuing its winter transfer window with a view to strengthening itself for the second part of the season. After the arrivals of Fofana School et Brice Sambatwo experienced players, the Breton club seems to want to continue on this path by targeting a 30-year-old Chilean midfielder, Erick Pulgar. A versatile and experienced profile at a very high level

Erick Pulgar has a solid background with 47 appearances in all competitions last season for Flamengo. Former player of Fiorentina in Italy and Galatasaray in Türkiye, the Chilean defensive midfielder was launched into the national team by Jorge Sampaolithe current coach of Rennes. This connection could facilitate negotiations, even if Flamengo seems reluctant to let their player leave after a full season in which he delivered 4 assists.

An offensive worth 4.5 million euros postponed

According to information from O Dia, the Rennais have already formulated an offer of 4.5 million euros to secure the services ofErick Pulgar. However, this proposal would have been refused by the Brazilian club which intends to keep its defensive midfielder for the rest of the season. Negotiations could nevertheless continue, with Rennes seeming determined to strengthen their midfield.

Ambitious recruitment to target European places

By attracting experienced reinforcements like Fofana School, Brice Samba and potentially Erick PulgarStade Rennais displays high ambitions for the remainder of the 2024-2025 financial year. The next few weeks therefore promise to be decisive in terms of recruitment for the Rouge et Noir.
