Club: Campos contracts at the heart of negotiations between PSG and Donnarumma

Returning to the starting eleven before crossing paths with Singo, Gianluigi Donnarumma has still not extended his contract at PSG, which expires in 2026. If the two parties would like to continue together, negotiations are on standby for contractual reasons.

Eager to have competition in all positions so that no player relaxes, Luis Enrique and Luis Campos went to Russia last summer to find Matvey Safonov to challenge Gianluigi Donnarumma and the Russian competed on Sunday evening in in his 8th match of the season, taking advantage of the Italian's facial injury to find the Parisian starting lineup.

Safonov had two shots on goal and scored points in Lens, but that doesn't mean he has become number one. The former Krasnodar player was started in Munich on November 26, but was at fault on the Bavarian goal and Luis Enrique decided to put Donnarumma back on against , , Salzburg, then Monaco, before his exit due to injury after the shock with Wilfried Singo.

His time on the bench in Munich also affected Donnarumma, who already did not feel enormous confidence from Luis Enrique's staff for 18 months. And while he is under contract at the club until 2026, the 25-year-old Italian goalkeeper is inevitably asking questions about his future. His agent Enzo Raiola also confirmed last Friday that negotiations with PSG for an extension were on standby.

Donnarumma's priority remains to extend to PSG

Despite everything, L'Equipe assures that the Italian international's priority is to extend his contract at PSG. For its part, PSG was able to note that its Italian goalkeeper was not always present in major Champions League matches, but would always have the desire to extend his contract. What's wrong then?

According to the sports daily, PSG is offering its goalkeeper a “new generation” contract, like all those signed at the club since the arrival of Luis Campos in in 2022. Contracts which provide for a variable share of salary depending on the number of matches played. And this viable share can represent up to a third of revenue.

PSG offers a salary with a variable part to Donnarumma

Donnarumma signed free for PSG in 2021, under Leonardo, with a salary that changes over the seasons and is currently estimated at around 10 million euros per year. PSG is now offering him a salary with a variable portion and the whole thing would be far from what he currently receives according to L'Equipe. This is what has been causing problems for months for the player and his agent and which explains why negotiations have come to a standstill.

The second part of PSG's season will allow both parties to nourish their reflection and to have more or less arguments to put on the table during their next discussions. The Team confirms in any case that if Donnarumma does not extend in the coming months, a transfer is possible in the summer of 2025, one year from the end of his current contract.
