Voted best player of the Euro won in 2021 with Italy, Gigio Donnarumma made headlines by freely leaving his training club, AC Milan, to join Paris Saint-Germain. A huge coup carried out at the time by Leonardo who offered himself the services of one of the most sought-after goalkeepers on the old continent for free. But since then, the 25-year-old Italian has never really managed to get going in the capital, his performances being regularly called into question, notably with criticism of his aerial game as well as his kicking game.

And if he hadn't really been bothered by the competition until now, the situation changed with the signing of Matvey Safonov this summer. The Russian goalkeeper, determined to move the lines, has visibly installed doubt in the mind of Luis Enrique, to the point of pushing Donnarumma out? Recently, everything suggested that he was going to extend in France even though he is under contract until 2026. But according to the words of his agent, nothing is yet finalized: “His contract runs until 2026. We are in a phase of reflection on certain contractual aspects. Everything is on standby for the moment. In negotiations like these, anything can happen. We cannot predict how things will develop in the coming months“, he blurted out Sports Radio.
