AS Saint-Étienne is facing heavy sanctions from the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP). Since the start of the season, the Saint-Etienne club has already paid approximately €100,000 fines for various incidents involving in particular the use of pyrotechnic devices. However, the events that occurred during the match against Olympique de risk considerably worsening the situation.

Stormy celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Kop

To celebrate the 25 Years of the Vanguard of Magic Fansthe Kop Nord increased the smoke bombs throughout the match against Marseille. In total, more than 400 pyrotechnic devices were lit, not only in the North Kop but also in the South Kop. This celebration led to the match being interrupted for several minutes at the end of the game. ASSE therefore expects a record fine on the part of the LFP for these serious excesses.

A partial closed session to be planned for the Kop Nord

Beyond the financial fine, the Greens also risk suffering sporting sanctions. According to club information, a partial closed session on the North stand seems inevitable after the prolonged interruption of the match against Marseille. This disciplinary measure would deprive ASSE of the support of its famous Cup North during the next home matches, a hard blow for the Greens and their fervent supporters.

Sanctions as the holidays approach

As Christmas approaches, ASSE expects to receive a real poisoned gift from the disciplinary committee on Wednesday evening. The sanctions, whether financial or sporting, risk somewhat darkening the end-of-year celebrations for the Saint-Etienne club.
