Victim of a broken arm during the month of November, Martin Terrier made a thunderous return to Germany with a goal and an assist in one week.
New arrival from Bayer Leverkusen, Martin Terrier (27) is still making his mark in Xabi Alonso's squad. His month of November was notably marked by small glitches, including a broken arm announced by his club in recent weeks. This, which made him miss the 80th anniversary of LOSC during the reception at Stade Rennais, nevertheless did not force him into a long-term convalescence. He was only absent for two weeks, missing his team's victories over Red Bull Salzburg (5-0) and Union Berlin (1-2) in the Champions League and Bundesliga. His return was explosive.
Bayer Leverkusen has just completed a week which could count for the rest of its season, bagging valuable successes in the league as well as on the European scene. Martin Terrier started on the bench, he still logged a dozen minutes against St Pauli (2-1), at his start, he was then more decisive than ever in Germany. The former Lille player was the common denominator of the last two successes achieved:
- Coming into play seven minutes before the final whistle against Inter Milan, he delivered an assist to Nordi Mukiele while missing his rebound. The former Parisian scored the one and only goal (90') of the match (1-0).
- A few days later, traveling to Augsburg, Bayer Leverkusen was once again able to rely on Martin Terrier. Established, he was the author of the opening score at the end of the first quarter of an hour (14′). He took a cross from Jeremie Frimpong to score his second goal in the Bundesliga this season.
Thanks to these two victories, Bayer Leverkusen continues its confirmation season. Xabi Alonso's men occupy second place in the German championship, four points behind Bayern Munich (1st, 33 pts). As for the Champions League, they are currently fourth with thirteen units gleaned. Qualification for the round of 16 is provisionally validated, two days from the end.
