OL: Textor and PSG get angry, this transfer falls through

Rayan Cherki was indeed very close to signing for PSG last summer, but the transfer of the French international hopeful to the capital collapsed due to tensions between John Textor and Parisian management.

With only one year left on his contract, Rayan Cherki was very close to leaving Olympique Lyonnais during the last transfer window. After playing in the Olympic Games with Thierry Henry's French team, the French junior international was even sidelined by OL and trained separately. His transfer to Borussia Dortmund fell through, but the possibility of a departure to PSG was still on the table. A destination that suited Rayan Cherki, who had agreed to join the French capital. But according to the revelations of our colleague Olivier Salmon, it was the tensions between the leaders of Saint-Germain and John Textor which derailed everything.

“PSG and Dortmund were the two clubs for which he was ready to leave his training club, an oral agreement had been given to his agent but the negotiations never came to fruition, or suddenly broke down because tensions existed between John Textor and the Parisian leaders » published the journalist on his X account. Today, PSG is no longer at the negotiating table unlike certain mid-table clubs like West Ham. A destination that does not hurt at all the talented attacking midfielder of OL, who extended this summer until 2026 plus an optional year.

Cherki said yes to PSG, he said no to West Ham

“It’s been almost a year since West Ham has been flirting with Rayan Cherki, but the OL player has never taken much interest in it” confirmed the specialist from the Rhone club. By letting the PSG train slip away this summer, Cherki may have given up on the reigning French champion for good and from now on, there is no question of him agreeing to sign for a second-rate club. In the absence of a European leader, Rayan Cherki will favor his training club and this has succeeded given his excellent start to the season under the orders of Pierre Sage.
