While OM aims to strengthen its defense during the winter transfer window, the president Pablo Longoria digs behind the scenes an unexpected lead on the Chelsea side.
OM Mercato: Pablo Longoria secretly activates the Benoît Badiashile track
Olympique de Marseille, after having seduced Adrien Rabiot, could well achieve another big coup in the transfer window. The Marseille club, dissatisfied with the performance of its rearguard this season, is actively seeking to strengthen this sector. Roberto De Zerbi's game plan requires versatile defenders, capable of integrating easily into collective play.
Faced with this situation, the Mehdi Benatia – Pablo Longoria tandem is working hard to bring in reinforcements in defense. And one of the avenues studied internally would lead to Benoît Badiashile. The media Monaco-Morning indeed ensures that the French defender of Chelsea is one of OM's priority targets.
Little used by the Blues, Benoît Badiashile does not seem to have the idea of a return to Ligue 1. He could thus be loaned to Marseille to benefit from more playing time and regain a level of performance which would allow him to claim a place in the French team.
A loan to OM would above all be an opportunity for the former Monegasque to return to a championship that he knows well and to establish himself in an ambitious club. This transfer would considerably strengthen the Marseille defense and allow Olympique de Marseille to aim even higher. It remains to be seen whether the Phocaeans will go beyond a simple interest.
