ASSE: Two and a half years of prospecting before buying AS Saint-Etienne
To begin with, he lifted the veil behind the scenes of the takeover of the Saint-Etienne club by Larry Tanenbaum, Canadian billionaire and owner of Kilmer Group, the parent company of Kilmer Sports Ventures (KSV).
“After two and a half years of intensive research, during which we studied between 60 and 80 clubs around the world, we finally set our sights on AS Saint-Étienne. Very few clubs met our criteria: competitive DNA at the highest level, solid infrastructure, a loyal supporter base and an efficient training center. We were looking for a mature club, ready to take on new challenges”confided the director of operations of ASSE.
He added: “Our aim was to find a club with untapped potential, which we could develop without having to rebuild everything. »
Huss Fahmy: “Our development plan is divided into five to six stages”
Huss Fahmy then detailed the development strategy of the Canadian group to put ASSE back at the top. “We have a clear vision and a precise action plan, but we know that it will have to be adapted to the reality on the ground. We are currently in the adjustment phase, in order to reconcile our initial project with the specificities of the club.
Our development plan is broken down into five to six stages. We will proceed in stages, regularly evaluating our progress. This is a long-term project, the objective of which is to build a solid and sustainable club. We are not looking for quick solutions, but solid foundations. The foundations are there, and it is now up to us to develop them. »
