Three months after his arrival on loan, Gabriel Moscardo played his first minutes with Reims this Saturday evening against OL (1-1). But his future in Champagne still remains uncertain given his short playing time.
We therefore had to wait a little over three months to see Gabriel Moscardo play in Ligue 1 with Stade de Reims and it was ultimately in his team's most indecisive match in weeks that Reims coach Luka Elsner decided to launch the young Brazilian. In the 92nd minute of a committed and undecided Reims/OL (1-1), the coach decided to finally launch the 19-year-old Brazilian in Ligue 1, the former Corinthians taking the place of Valentin Atangana in midfield .
Knowing that stoppage time lasted no less than seven minutes, Moscardo was therefore able to play six minutes in the league, his first in competition since June when he was still playing with Corinthians. With such short playing time, it's hard to draw any conclusions but the Brazilian had time to stand out with a good interception in front of his area then a blocked shot in front of OL's in the final seconds. The best news of the evening probably comes from the fact that his coach preferred to bring him in rather than Fofana, one of his direct competitors in the middle axis.
Ligue 1 clubs came to information for Moscardo
These six minutes of play do not, however, change much in their overall situation, with Paris hoping with this loan for much more playing time so that their Brazilian purchased for €20 million can acclimate to the demanding Ligue 1. Recently, the entourage of the defensive midfielder confided to RMC that he now felt 100%, with no less than five individual sessions with a physical trainer in addition to group training. Additional work probably very necessary for a player who has had a series of operations and injuries of all types for a year, particularly muscular.
While Reims coach Luka Elsner advocates patience regarding him, mentioning in passing a possible relocation higher up the pitch, PSG is getting a little impatient to see his player being used so little. Sports director Luis Campos keeps in touch with the player and could decide to repatriate him to Paris in January if he does not play more quickly. Because if Reims does not seem to want to rely on him, several other Ligue 1 clubs have already inquired about his situation according to RMC, just to get Moscardo back during the winter transfer window.
Until then, it is the player's playing time in Reims which will define what happens next.
